I traveled from Orlando, Florida to Berlin, Germany (…) to see Jenny and the Mexicats.
Sort of. Maybe?
The complete thought is: I traveled from Orlando, Florida to Berlin, Germany to run the Berlin Marathon. Once there, I found out that one of my favorite bands was performing not too far away from where I was staying. With not much to do that night besides fighting the jet lag, it was a very easy decision to go see Jenny and the Mexicats.
So… Both statements are correct?
Jenny and the Mexicats performed in Berlin’s Franzz-Club on Thursday, September 26, as part of their current European Tour, in support of their new recording, Fiesta Ancestral.
Jenny and the Mexicats are: Jenny Ball (voice, trumpet, guitar), Pantera (guitar), Icho Van (bass), and David González Bernardos (cajón & percussion). They’re also currently touring with a supporting percussionist and guitarist.
If you’re new to their music, please check out the links below and get to know them. “Multicultural band“, although accurate, is not really the best description for their music and approach. It’s that, but much more. Flamenco meets jazz meets folk meets cumbia meets rock and… you get the idea.
Had the chance to meet Jenny and Pantera after the show and told her that I’ve traveled from Florida to see them (sort of, maybe?) because I’ve been waiting for years to see them live (true) and she explained the craziness of their current scheduling and trying to fit cities like Orlando.
Here’s hoping that the craziness can get sorted out in a near future, and I can have the chance to photograph them again, but with proper equipment, with more than just my phone. If not, I’m sure I’ll catch them again somewhere. Antartica, perhaps?
